In school we learn the world map. It’s an extremely useful framework for thinking about the geographical world. But most schools don’t give students any simple frameworks for other aspects of the world. Gapminder is fixing that.

Without fact-based frameworks for understanding the world, people are not left with a blank slate. Our brains make up a picture of what it probably looks like based on what feels intuitive, which may very often be oversimplistic and completely wrong. Gapminder’s frameworks are also simplifications. But they are based on facts. We have built these frameworks to replace the common misconceptions. We use them consistently across all our teaching materials to show how generally useful they are for understanding all kinds of aspects of global development. That’s what we call a fact-based worldview.
