The family lives in Zimbabwe. O is 38 years old and he works in sales and services. His wife R is 35 years old and she does domestic service and agricultural activities. They have 4 children and they live with them in a 2-bedroom house which has been their residence for 9 years. The next big things they plan on spending are food supplies, house maintenance, and school fees. Their dream is to buy some cattle.

The family lives in Zimbabwe. O is 38 years old and he works in sales and services. His wife R is 35 years old and she does domestic service and agricultural activities. They live with their 3 sons M, 16 years old, C, 12 years old, and L, 9 years old, and their daughter G, 8 years old. R works for a total of 16 hours per week. The family lives in a two-bedroom house, which they own and got built with the help of family and friends. They’ve been living here for the past 9 years. The house has no toilet or electricity. The family has to buy 75% of its food, which costs about 90% of its income, because they produce 20% themselves and receive the remaining 5% as gifts. They use wood for cooking in the kitchen. They collect water, which is not safe to drink, from a source nearby, which takes 10 minutes to collect and come back. Every week, R and her children spend 5 hours collecting water, 8 hours collecting wood, 21 hours attending household agricultural activities and 14 hours doing housework. The family hardly saves any money since most of it is spent on food. They sometimes go on vacation and the furthest they have ever been was Nyanga, Zimbabwe. The next things they plan to spend money on are more food supplies, school fees for the children, and their house maintenance. They hope that one day they will be able to fulfill their dream of buying some cattle.
