The family lives in Myanmar. W is 40 years old and is a rice farmer. His wife M is 35 years old and she is a housewife. They are parents to 3 children and live with them in a 1-bedroom house. The house is free of rent and they have been living here for 5 years. They moved into this house for rice farming in the land nearby. The house has beautiful surroundings but it has no electricity and gets flooded during the flood season. The family’s most favorite item is their phone. Their next big spending plan is to buy food supplies and their dream is to one day be able to buy a piece of land.

The family lives in Myanmar. W is 40 years old and is a rice farmer. His wife M is 35 years old and she is a housewife. They live with their sons S , 14 years old, who is disabled, and T, 8 years old, who is a student and with their daughter Y, 5 years old, who is also a student. Win works for a total of 50 hours/week. The family lives in a rent-free single room house, which they built with the help of friends and relatives. They've been living there for the past 5 years. They like that the house is in beautiful surroundings but they dislike that it has no electricity and that the area is prone to flooding. They moved here to farm rice. The toilet is outside the home and not shared with other households. The family has to buy all their food supplies, which cost them about 90% of their income. They collect rainwater on their plot and feel it’s safe to drink. They use wood for cooking. Every week, Musan spends 14 hours collecting wood, 64 hours on home agricultural activities, 30 minutes collecting water and 21 hours doing housework. The family hardly saves money because most of it is spent on food. The next big thing they plan to buy is more food supplies. They hope that one day they will be able to fulfill their dream of buying some land.
