The family lives in Rwanda. N is 47 years old and is a banker. His wife F is 26 years old and she is a farmer/food seller. They live with their 2 children and a niece in a 4-room house. They own the house and have been living there for 7 years. Their next big plan is to buy a new house. Their dream is to be able to afford the university fees for their children.

The family lives in Rwanda. N is 47 years old and is a banker. His wife F is 26 years old and she is a farmer and food seller. They live with their niece K, 6 years old, and son M, 5 years old, who are students, and their other son C, 2 ½ years old. Together, the couple works for a total of 132 hours/week. The family lives in a 4-room house, which they own and got built with the help of relatives and friends. They’ve been living there for the past 7 years. The house has reliable electricity, drinking water, and a toilet on their own plot. They also own agricultural land. The family has to buy 80% of their food, which cost them about 80% of their income, and produce the remaining 20% themselves. They use biogas, charcoal or wood for cooking. The family saves money. They sometimes go on vacation and the furthest they have ever been was Kigali, Rwanda. The next big thing they plan to buy is a new house. They hope that one day they will be able to fulfill their dream of paying university fees for their children.
