The family lives in Nepal. K is 46 years old and his wife M is 37 years old. They both are small-scale farmers and live with their 3 children and a grandmother. They live in a 1-bedroom house and have been living there for generations. Their most loved possession is their family. The next thing they plan on buying is food supplies. Their dream is to be able to provide education for their children.

The family lives in Nepal. K is 46 years old and is a small scale farmer. His wife M is 37 years old and she is also a farmer. They live with their grandmother, 89 years old, their daughter S, 19 years old, and their sons P, 15 years old, and U, 11 years old, who are all students. Together, the couple works for a total of 140 hours/week. The family lives in a 1-bedroom house, which they built with the help of friends and relatives and own it. They and their ancestors have lived there for 200 years. The house has electricity, which fails several times a week. The toilet is outside the house and shared with 2 other households. They also own some land. The family has to buy 95% of their food and produce the remaining 5% themselves. Food supplies cost them about 60% of their income. Water is available outside their house and is safe to drink. They use propane fuel for cooking in the kitchen. M spends an extra 28 hours a week doing housework and K spends 5 hours a week doing part-time work. The family hardly saves any money because most of it is spent on buying food supplies. They’ve never been on a vacation but they have gone as far as Goa, India. The next thing they plan to buy is more food. They hope that one day they will be able to fulfil their dream of providing education for their children.
