Gapminder World 2006 has been nominated for the prestigious Webby Award , often referred to as the “Oscars of the Internet”. The webby follows the rather bold ambition to honor “the best on the internet”.

Gapminder was selected as one of five nominees in the category: BEST VISUAL DESIGN – FUNCTION . Competitors in the category are strong names like Addidas, Gucci and flickr, Yahoos photo sharing tool.

The winners are chosen by a global organization with members such as David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Vinton Cerf and Rob Glaser. The decision will be announced on May 1, 2007 and honored at The 11th Annual Webby Awards in New York City on June 5th.
